A picture coloured pixel by pixel: f(x, y) is called for every pixel and returns its colour -- rgb(...), hsl(...), mix(...), a colour name -- or a number (0 black to 1 white). With only w and h, x and y are pixel positions from the top-left corner; with xmin, xmax, ymin, ymax they are points of that rectangle, y up (the complex plane for a Mandelbrot set). f may use numbers, its own variables, the script's number variables, if/while/for, maths functions, noise and fbm. At most 800 x 800 pixels; a picture that takes too long stops with a message.
